Life Drawings

Life drawings in various media from the course I've been on for the last four weeks. Some successful, others not so, but I'll keep them uploaded to compare to if I improve.

All the below in under 5 minutes each:

Some 2D

Pencil drawings from life from my holiday - above is a pretty horrible bug exoskeleton, below is my lovely sister Amy. Had to photograph them so sorry for the bad quality.

Polycount Competiton - VG Remix

The challenge was to create a super-low poly diorama of one of your favourite scenes from a videogame, using no higher than a 128 x 128 texture. I chose the arrival of Ninetails in Okami, which took me two weeks.

Here is my final submission:

Please take a look at  my diorama in Sketchfab.
My WIP thread on Polycount is here.

The finals have been uploaded here, please vote for your favourite if you have an account.

There are many things I would have liked to have spent more time on, but I've learned a lot from this exercise and it's always good to work on projects with a tight deadline. I'll definitely be participating in more competitions from now on. Thanks for your support!

Some Disorganised 3D

Totempole from concept to engine:

A start to the Tyne Bridge environment, need to get back to this, my laptop struggles with Cry Engine 3.

Paper rabbit inspired by a great little indie game I played - 'To the Moon'. 3 hour model / unwrap and basic texture.

Lunchtime Speedpaints

45 minutes each, trying some different styles. I love doing these. Ubisoft Barcelona will be joining in tomorrow, I hope the topic is good!

Fury

Fury from Darksiders, how I wish she looked, riding Sleipnir, Odin's horse. Just because!

Working on a 3D Tyne bridge in UDK (if it works), hoping to finish it this week.

Self Portrait Speedpaint

1 hour from a mirror.

I think this is my best self-portrait to date, still not looking much like me, but it'll get there!

Speed Paints and Stuff

 Weekend project - Persian bracelet.
I saw a tutorial today that makes me want to rework this / start a new piece of jewellery.

Below are a collection of speed paints from my time here at Ubisoft, I've learned a lot from the other artists and hope to improve more! Each one is 50 minutes from a random generated word or phrase.

'Travelling Imagination Salesman'

Choppers and Eleanor

Reflections chopper - first day at work tomorrow! Really looking forward to it!

Construction progress

Zbrush character 'Eleanor', for fun :)

I've got a brilliant view from my apartment, working on a few speed paints and a redesign of 'Fury', the female horseman from Darksiders. Really enjoyed Darksiders II - fantastic art.

Happy New Year!

Christmas present for my family, enjoyed recreating the old comic book style from the Incredibles

Scorpion Boss - created in my spare time as a Ubi leaving present. Hopefully they make good use of it in the game I've been working on! Can't say what it is. Final image is rendered in engine, the runes are animated with an emissive offset - it looks cool!

Level art for Ubisoft - can't say what!

This is what I've started on this holiday - A current gen Cobra AH-1. I'm using it as practice for a job I really want. I've never attempted anything so realistic or hard-surface, but I'm really enjoying it. Trying to model a working rotor blade with all the parts from limited reference isn't so easy. Fingers crossed!

Plan:
Implement in Cry Engine 3 with rotor blade animation, and appropriate shaders.
Finish everything by Wednesday.
